Today's inspiration comes in the form of a conversation with my 3-year old boy...
"I had a boring day at school, Mama."
"Hmmmm, I'm curious about that," I say.
"I don't believe that a day can be boring. But I do believe that You can Choose to feel bored."
"What did you say, Mama?"
"I said, You are the one who chooses if you're going to enjoy a moment or if you are going to feel bored. You get to choose if you're going to feel bored or create some fun."
"Do you choose to be bored, Mama?" he asks sincerely.
"No, I don't," I say.
"I don't either, Mama. I'm never bored."
Now, don't get me wrong. I am not trying to claim that this conversation is the 'right' way to respond when your child says he is bored. And I truly have no idea what the ripple effect of this conversation will be for my son. I am definitely not claiming that I just transformed his relationship with boredom forever more.
However, I do feel good about planting one little seed at a time around the CHOICE we each have about how we experience each moment of this precious life.
